18th International Symposium on Unmanned Untethered Submersible Technology
“Operational Goals Define the next Generation AUV Systems”

The Autonomous Undersea Systems Institute (AUSI) is sponsoring the 18h International Symposium on Unmanned Untethered Submersible Technology (UUST2013). The Symposium will be held August 11-14, 2013 at the Portsmouth Sheraton Harborside Hotel in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. For over thirty years this symposium has attracted researchers from around the world to share successes as well as insights.

Abstract Deadline: April 30, 2013
Abstracts should be from 500-1000 words and must include the author’s name, organizational affiliation, address and email address. The abstract should reflect the technical issues to be discussed and/or methods used for analyzing those issues. The abstract title and authors(s) names, addresses and email should be set apart from the abstract.

Peer Review

AUSI is working together with the editorial board of JUST (the Journal of Unmanned System Technology) to prepare a special issue on Unmanned Untethered Submersible Technology. High quality papers from the 18th International Symposium on UUST 2013 (Portsmouth, NH, Aug 11-14) would be submitted for further review leading to publication in the special issue of JUST.  If you wish to be considered for this special issue, let us know you wish to be included in the review process when you submit your abstract for UUST.  This is a unique opportunity to expand AUV technology into a broader research community.

Technical Areas:

Notification of Acceptance of papers:May 15, 2013
Completed papers due: July 20, 2013

Student Paper Competition: Manuscripts Due: May 11, 2013 (Winners will be notified June 29, 2013)
Again this year we will sponsor a student paper competition in an effort to encourage and foster the participation of undergraduate and graduate students in the research areas related to unmanned untethered submersible technology. The competition is open to all students enrolled in a degree program on a full or part time basis at an accredited college or university in a technical or scientific curriculum. All authors involved in the development of the paper must be students at the time the paper is submitted. When submitting papers to this competition, authors must specify which technical area listed most closely relates to the primary content of the paper. Each winner (primary author only) will receive a $1000.00 scholarship and an invitation to present their winning paper at the Symposium. All of the author’s expenses at the Symposium will be paid including: travel, lodging, meals and registration. A winner must be present at the Symposium to receive their award. All papers submitted will be included in a poster session at the Symposium. Papers will be judged on technical content and originality.
