Sea Trials For The GOSL SQX-500 AUV A Success

GOSL is soon to take delivery of the SQX-500 Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) developed by Marport Deep Sea Technology and the Institute of Ocean Technology of St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada.

The AUV is a compact, lightweight AUV designed for search and seabed survey rated to 500m of water. Its payload consists of the Aquapix 3D Bathymetric Sonar, the Klein 3900 Side Scan Sonar as well as the Seebyte Pipeline AutoTracker and a digital underwater camera.

The AUV is to be used for hydrographic surveys, hazard surveys, pipeline surveys, wellhead inspection, platform and riser inspection, etc.

The first official sea trials for the SQX-500 was carried out in Newfoundland, Canada in April 2011 and turned out to be a huge success.
