Remus 100-S configuration

Platform: Remus 100
Manufacturer: Hydroid

Summary

Autonomous underwater vehicle –  REMUS 100-S

The Remus 100-S is an evolution of the highly successful, man portable REMUS 100 system configured specifically for hydrographic and offshore surveys.

The REMUS 100-S also eliminates the need for larger vessels and costly special handling equipment.

Description
Kongsberg Maritime autonomous underwater vehicles have been conducting high-quality commercial surveys at low cost for more than 15 years. During this period, AUV technology has matured and advanced rapidly, up to a point where reliability and capability now combine to enable operation in hydrographic surveys AUVs, due to their ability to carry sensors close to the bottom on an acoustically quiet and non-intrusive platform, allow the surveyor to collect high-resolution data in environments that would make shipboard collection uneconomical or impractical. The compact size of the REMUS 100-S allows for economical overnight shipping and two-man deployment and operation capability. The REMUS 100-S also eliminates the need for larger vessels and costly special handling equipment.

Applications

  • Hydrographic Surveys
  • Pre and Post Dredging Surveys
  • Channel Monitoring
  • Pipeline Inspection
  • Emergency Response Surveys
  • Search and Recovery Operations
  • Rapid Envrionmental Assessment

Features
The REMUS 100-S builds on Hydroid’s success with the standard REMUS 100 AUV. With over 200 REMUS 100’s delivered since 2001, Hydroid has developed an unmatched reputation for high-quality, reliable vehicles. The REMUS 100-S incorporates all the standard equipment of the REMUS 100 and additionally includes:

  • Kongsberg Inertial Navigation System – includes the Honeywell HG1700 or HG9900 IMU and NavP navigation processing suite
  • Payload Processor to initialize and control all sensors
  • Precise time and acoustic instrument synchronization
  • Vx Works Operating System
  • Tri-Band Field Replaceable Antenna for GPS, Iridium and Wi-Fi
  • Precision GPS
  • Acoustic Communications
  • 1Gbit Ethernet – for high speed data download

Compatibility with Post Processing Software – Reflection (new KONGSBERG software being released this year), NavLab (for NavP) and GeoSwath which allows the REMUS 100-S operator to calculate the position, velocity, and attitude of the vehicle using raw acceleration and angular rate data from the IMU.

The NavLab Software enhances NavP by providing a navigation post processing toolbox that makes possible the re-navigation of the real time position solutions calculated in the field. Post processing navigation data with NavLab increases navigational accuracy and integrity. In short, NavP and NavLab give the REMUS 100-S unmatched navigational and position accuracy for a shallow water AUV.
