NUWC SAUV configuration

Platform: SAUV II
Manufacturer: Falmouth Scientific, Inc
Scientific User: Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division Newport

Summary

SAUV II is the result of an ONR prototyping effort and is currently power by a vectored thruster. It has an enhanced programmable battery management system to monitor the state of the battery and directs the surfaced battery charging. For most missions the concept would to maintain the battery at greater than 50% battery charge or limit the night time operations to the amount charged during the previous charge cycle. On going research efforts involve integration of low power sensors, improved solar panels, and improved battery efficiency.
