Echo Surveyor II
Meeting Deepwater Survey Demands AUVs are the ultimate choice of instrument platform for deep sea and remote surveys. Based on a Kongsberg Maritime manufactured Hugin 3000 body, the Echo Surveyor II supports acquisition of multibeam echosounder, sidescan sonar, sub-bottom profiler and CTD profiler data to meet a wide range of offshore survey demands for clients in the oil and gas industry, utility sector and government agencies.
The AUV offers numerous advantages over other offshore survey platforms. In comparison to towed systems, the Echo Surveyor II provides tight turning circles, greatly reducing the time to change between survey lines; the platform’s inertial navigation system (INS) also adds rigor to the positioning of hazards and features.
Compared to an remotely operated vehicle (ROV), the Echo Surveyor II operates without an umbillical and is able to move faster and more quietly, collecting data at a very high data-to-signal ratio. As a result, surveys are completed sooner and with more accuracy.
System features include:
• Efficient semi-fuel cell battery
• 60-70 hours dive endurance
• Nominal survey speed of 4 knots
• Inertial navigation system
• Flexible payload capabilites
The Echo Surveyor II supports surveys related to deepwater field developments, site clearances, pipeline and cable routes, and regional mapping.
