iRobot seeks Chief Engineer - Maritime Programs

We seek an experienced Chief Engineer for our Government & Industrial Robotics Division – Maritime Program. In this role, you will be responsible for leading a team of talented hardware and software engineers in the design, development and sustainment of Unmanned Underwater Vehicles including product line architecture, requirements development and traceability, customer interface, HW and SW development, risk analysis and mitigation, test and evaluation, transition to production and sustainment support. The position will be located in the Durham, NC and report on solid line basis to the Competency Manager in Bedford, MA with dotted line responsibility to the Maritime Program Manager in Durham.

We seek an experienced Chief Engineer for our Government & Industrial Robotics Division – Maritime Program. In this role, you will be responsible for leading a team of talented hardware and software engineers in the design, development and sustainment of Unmanned Underwater Vehicles including product line architecture, requirements development and traceability, customer interface, HW and SW development, risk analysis and mitigation, test and evaluation, transition to production and sustainment support. Responsibilities:

• Supervise and coordinate all aspects of 10 person Maritime Program engineering team to comply with cost, schedule and technical requirements.
• Ensure Maritime Program’s compliance with established iRobot engineering standards and practices.
• Assist program manager and IPT Leads with the development and implementation of integrated program plans, issue reporting, and risk management.
• Manage program technical risk and abatement actions in cooperation with program team and competency.
• Develop technical metrics and track through regular reviews and reporting to allow earlier identification of technical issues to the program manager and the competency.
• Review all technical requirements changes and coordinate analysis of the impact of those changes on schedule, budget and performance. Ensure implementation is consistent with design integrity.
• Interfaces with engineering organization to ensure the program is adequately staffed, trained and possesses the necessary equipment and tools to effectively execute the program
• Develop and lead Maritime UUV knowledge capture process that sustains and expands iRobot’s knowledge of existing designs and enhances understanding of the underwater unmanned environment.
• Function as the Programs primary engineering interface to both internal iRobot and external organizations.
• Interact with customer to provide technical status and engineering schedule.
• Mentor managers and less experienced Engineering personnel. Provide input to performance appraisals of assigned engineering leads.
• Develop Maritime Product Technical Roadmap.
