October 17-20, 2010
St. John's Convention Centre
St. John's, Newfoundland
Ocean Innovation 2010 will bring together key representatives from government, industry and academe to discuss and debate the present and future state of underwater vehicle technology. During this two-day, single stream event delegates will explore latest innovations and challenges under four sub-themes – engineering, exploration, enterprise and education.
Conference: AUVSI 2010 Unmanned Systems Interoperability Conference
October 18-21, 2010
October 18, 2010 - October 21, 2010
The NTC Promenade, San Diego CA
Theme: The Small Business Administration's Cluster Initiative is the conference theme: "Energize the Economy- Maintain Traditions of Excellence - Dominate the Battlespace."
The Unmanned Systems Conference is a venue to discuss a wide variety of topics surrounding various types of interoperability issues:
Interaction with manned systems - unmanned and robotics systems must interoperate with a wide variety of manned platforms, weapons systems, and C4ISR systems
Inter-system - interoperability between different unmanned or robotic systems, which are required for such systems to cooperate and perform complex missions in denied, contested, or permissive environments; or in disaster space
Interaction with personnel "on scene" - whether first responders in a civil emergency, troops operating/working in theater or combat, etc., and in a wide variety of situations such as logistical support, casualty evacuation, manned/unmanned/robotics combined arms operations, etc.
Intra-system - component level interoperability issues to enable interchangeable parts within an unmanned or robotic system.
Special topics of importance are: interoperability of people, their systems, and unmanned systems; the C2 of unmanned systems/swarms; human factors in C2; potential compromise of the control of unmanned systems, and evolving issues such as FAA rules and sensor fusion.
Workshop: 6th Biannual NRC-IOT Workshop on Underwater Vehicle Technology
October 20-21, 2010
St. John's Convention Centre
St. John's, Newfoundland
The NRC-IOT workshop will be a forum for specialists from industry, university and research organizations. We anticipate having presentations that address the following five major topics.
1. Multi-agent vehicle systems - what hardware and software is required to make this happen, who is working in this area, what progress has been made, what are the major challenges, where are the opportunities for collaboration?
2. Autonomous "gateway" or "beacon" vehicles as part of a "fleet" of autonomous submerged vehicles -fleet path planning and optimization, role of COTS software.
3. Under-ice navigation and tracking - inter-vehicle communications while submerged.
4. Vehicle technology (gizmos) - what's new, what's over the horizon, what will be the next "technology enabler"?
5. Customer applications - tracking, monitoring, surveillance and inspection for the Department of Fisheries &Amp; Oceans, National Defence, Canadian Coast Guard and the oil and gas industry, and, other commercial interests.
Conference: ONR 2010 Naval Science and Technology Partnership Conference
November 8-10, 2010
By investing in next-generation technology, ONR pursues the delivery of technological advantages, such as critical equipment, tools and training, to the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps. We collaborate with the brightest minds from around the world to support our current and future force, laying the foundation for many of those partnerships at the Naval Science and Technology Partnership Conference.
The purpose of this conference is to:
Introduce and advance awareness of ONR's S&T strategy and program initiatives
Present science and technology program challenges and discuss possible technology solutions
Broaden our science and technology partnership base and explore new ideas with participants
This year’s event, Aug. 24-26, will present valuable insights on key topics:
Autonomous Systems
Directed Energy and Hypervelocity
Warfighter Performance
Information Dominance
Total Ownership Cost Reduction
Expeditionary and Irregular Warfare
Power & Energy
Doing Business with ONR
We will also provide an update on energy research that supports the Secretary of the Navy's five energy goals set at our Naval Energy Forum last October.
Conference: Subsea Survey IRM 2010
November 9-11, 2010
The only conference in the world devoted to Oil &Gas and Maritime industry underwater survey and IRM products and services.
"Subsea Survey” in the oil & gas industry means a great deal more than seabed surveys. Subsea Survey IRM 2010 will focus on the work performed by survey, diving, ROV and engineering contractors. The move to perform IRM tasks in shallow to ultra-deep waters using advanced techniques and ROVs, AUVs and specialized tools has led to the expansion of the Subsea Survey technical program and exhibition to include all aspects of the global subsea survey industry.
Symposium: Launch & Recovery of Manned & Unmanned Vehicles from Marine Platforms 2010 Symposium
December 8, 2010
Launch & Recovery Symposium 2010
Event Type: Technical Symposium
Event Location: Sheraton National Hotel
Event Date: 12/8/2010
Symposium Overview
The 2005 & 2008 Launch and Recovery Conferences were outstanding successes drawing upon the leading experts from around the world to discuss emergent technical issues. The 2010 Launch and Recovery Conference of Manned and Unmanned Vehicles from Marine Platforms represents a unique opportunity to also include the vehicles themselves in the discussion and the special interfaces that must exist between the vehicle and the platform. New participants and those who attended the previous conferences are encouraged to present their current cutting edge technology, and discuss progress that has occurred over the intervening two years. Unmanned vehicles are increasingly integrated into the day-to-day operations of naval and commercial maritime operations, from ocean platform inspection, to search-and-rescue, to surface and antisubmarine warfare. At the same time, the use of small manned vehicles is also on the rise, whether high-speed boats on Coast Guard ships or helicopters on research vessels. The need to operate both manned and unmanned vehicles from the same platform is of increasing importance, and so are the means to quickly and safely launch and recover a wide variety of such vehicles – which are evolving at a rapid pace – is an area of intense research and development in national and international naval, commercial and academic sectors.
